Which wall-mounted tap should you choose?
- Countertop basin: a wall-mounted basin tap, with a slim or waterfall spout.
- Bath against the wall: a 2-hole wall-mounted bath mixer tap, with a handset included if you don't already have one.
- Shower only: a wall-mounted shower mixer tap, thermostatic if several people use it.
- Traditional style: the retro basin tap with cross-head handles, the antique 3-way wall-mounted basin tap or the retro bath-shower mixer with telephone-style handset.
The number of holes matters: a 2-hole wall-mounted bathroom mixer tap connects to two water supplies, hot and cold. Check the spacing of your connections before choosing. According to their data sheet, 21 of the 34 models have a 1/2 inch connector and only one a 3/8 inch; the others' data sheet doesn't say.
Wall-mounted tap FAQ
At what height should you fit a wall-mounted basin tap?
The spout must clear the rim of the basin and run into the centre without splashing. The right height therefore depends on the height of your basin and the length of the spout: measure both and follow the tap's manual.
What are the disadvantages of concealed taps?
The tap body is in the wall: fitting requires building work and an access point for maintenance. In return, only the spout and the handle remain visible.
If the building work puts you off, also look at our other bathroom mixer taps, including basin and countertop basin models.
How do you descale a tap blocked by limescale?
Unscrew the aerator and leave it to soak in diluted white vinegar, then rinse. On the tap itself, apply the mixture with a soft cloth, rinse with clean water and dry, without an abrasive sponge.
