Vintage tap: kitchen, basin, bath and garden

28 antique and retro taps, from €49.90 to €189.90

An antique-style tap is recognised by a few details: a curved spout, cross-head handles or a porcelain handle, a bronze, gold or black shade. This page brings together all the retro, vintage, antique or traditional taps in the shop, from €49.90 for a wall-mounted garden tap to €189.90 for a wall-mounted bath-shower mixer with telephone-style handset. 14 are for the kitchen, 9 for the basin, 4 for the bath and shower, 1 for the garden. According to their data sheet, 17 of the 28 models connect with a 1/2 inch fitting.

  • Retro black kitchen tap with two porcelain handles: €116.90.
  • Retro aged brass kitchen tap with pull-out spray: €142.90.

Antique bath tap and retro shower tap

For a retro bathroom, four models for the bath and shower:

  • Retro Style Shower Tap: €54.90, chrome.
  • Vintage 2-Hole Bath Tap: €130.90, in black, brushed nickel, chrome or gold.
  • Vintage Bath Shower Mixer: €129.90, in gold, black, chrome or metal, with handset.
  • Retro chrome wall-mounted bath shower mixer with ceramic handle and handset: €189.90, in chrome-plated brass, cross-head handles and telephone-style handset, the classic shape of old baths.

An antique bath tap with a telephone-style handset is fitted to the wall, above the edge of the bath. More models for the bath, in all styles, are on the pages bath tap, bath mixer tap and shower tap. To replace a wall-mounted model, our guide to replacing an old shower or bath tap explains the tap centres and eccentric fittings.

An antique tap for the garden

The antique wall-mounted garden tap (€49.90, gold finish) dresses an outside wall. The other outdoor taps are on the page garden taps.

Retro tap: which finish should you choose?

  • Bronze: brown and matt, the most distinctive shade of a house from the old days.
  • Aged brass and gold: warmer and lighter. The bare brass models are on the page brass tap, all the gold shades in the gold taps.
  • Black: with cross-head handles or white porcelain handles, a more graphic retro look.
  • Chrome: the most discreet retro look, which goes with tapware that is already chrome.

Match the shade with the rest of the room: a handset, a waste or a towel rail in another colour shows up next to an antique tap.

Mixer tap or two-handle tap?

A mixer tap controls flow and temperature with a single lever. A two-handle tap, with cross-heads or porcelain handles, keeps hot and cold water separate: this is the original form of antique taps, and the most authentic. Both exist on this page, for the kitchen as well as the bathroom.

Antique tap FAQ

Is a retro tap fitted like a modern one?

Yes, it is fitted like any tap of the same type: on a hole in the basin or sink, on a countertop basin, or on the wall. Check the mounting and the number of holes on the product page before choosing. Example: according to its data sheet, the Bronze Finish Basin Tap, Antique Style, is 230 mm high with a 195 mm projection and fits a 35 mm hole.

How do you care for a retro bathroom tap?

A soft cloth, lukewarm water and a little soap are enough. Dry after use to avoid limescale marks, and avoid abrasive sponges and harsh products, which can mark a bronze or gold finish. Follow the manual.

For limescale, our article explains how to clean an aged brass or bronze tap without damaging its surface.

What should I do if my antique tap leaks?

On a two-handle tap, a leak at the spout with the tap closed most often comes from the valve seal, which can be replaced; on a retro mixer tap, it's the cartridge. Our guide to the antique tap that leaks or drips helps you find where the water is coming from.

The bathroom taps also brings together all the other styles.
