A spiral sheath that takes the rubbing

A spiral sheath that takes the rubbing

This hose has the classic look of a shower: a chrome metal sheath wound in a spiral, which shines in the light and follows the movements of the handset without collapsing. The supplier states it is stainless steel.

The detail photo shows the inside: a flexible black tube runs through the spiral. It's the one that carries the water; the metal sheath protects it when the hose rubs against the edge of the bath, gets caught in a shower door or trails on the tray. It's the model to choose if you like the shower hose as it's always been, shiny and lively in the hand.

Brass ends and a nut you tighten by hand

Brass ends and a nut you tighten by hand

At both ends, the detail photos show brass connector heads, copper-coloured, fitted into a chrome sleeve. One of them has a knurled nut, crenellated around its edge, which turns between the fingers.

Two black seals appear beside the hose: they go in each nut before tightening. It's the seal that ensures watertightness, not force: tightening by hand, with a quarter turn more if a drop appears, is enough.

The hose connects a handheld shower to a wall-mounted bath or shower mixer.

Length, compatibility and care

Length, compatibility and care

The length is not given in the product data. Measure the distance between the mixer outlet and the height at which you hold the handset, add enough to unhook it freely, and write to us to confirm the length before ordering.

The nuts are not dimensioned either: most mixers and handsets on the market use the 1/2″ thread, known as 15x21, but check on the old hose.

For care, a damp cloth over the spiral is enough. Avoid bending the hose at a sharp angle at the base of the mixer: that's where a spiral eventually gets marked.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 chrome shower hose, with its nuts

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A stainless steel body: immune to corrosion, it keeps its look despite constant contact with water.

How long is this hose?
The supplier does not specify it. Contact our customer service, Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm, if the length is decisive for you.
Is it compatible with my shower handset?
The nut diameter is not stated. Most handsets and mixers use 1/2″ (15x21): compare with your current hose.
What are the washers for?
The two black washers visible in the photo go inside each nut: they are what stops the leak.
Do I need PTFE tape?
No: on a hose, it is the flat washer inside the nut that makes the seal.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
