Brass 3-way toilet tap

This chrome-plated brass 3-way toilet tap is recognisable by its butterfly handle, easy to turn: a splitter of about 63 mm that feeds a cistern and a sprayer, or a shower head and a handheld hose.

A handle you grab without searching

A handle you grab without searching

Most small 3-way taps have a thin stem. This one has a butterfly handle: a chrome conical cap with two wide wings, turned between thumb and forefinger without having to aim.

This is a real plus when the tap is tucked behind a toilet pan or high up in a shower: you operate it by feel. The body is shiny chrome-plated brass, with a hexagonal female nut and threaded male ends.

At the bottom of the nut, you can see the bare brass, with no coating.

For a shower as for a toilet

For a shower as for a toilet

One of the photos shows it fitted on a shower: circled in red, it sits under the overhead shower head and also feeds the hose of a handheld shower. One water supply then serves two outlets.

The principle is identical in a toilet: fitted on the supply, it feeds the cistern on one side and a bidet sprayer on the other.

On the thread side, the connection is stated as 1/2″ (15x21). On a 3/8″ (12x17) toilet supply, you will need to add a reducing bush to adapt it. On a shower, it avoids creating a second feed in the wall: the part slips in between the supply and the existing hoses.

Dimensions and fitting

Dimensions and fitting

The dimensioned photo gives about 63.2 mm wide by 50 mm high. Measure the space between the wall and your cistern, or under your shower head, before ordering: with its handle, it takes up a little more room than a stem tee.

Fit it with a spanner, water off. PTFE tape on the male threads and a washer in the nut ensure a watertight seal.

For the chrome, a cloth soaked in diluted white vinegar makes limescale marks disappear; rinse and dry afterwards.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 chrome-plated brass 3-way tap with butterfly handle

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

Is it for a shower or for a toilet?
For both, as long as the threads match: one photo shows it on a shower, and it does the same job on a toilet supply.
What are its dimensions?
About 63.2 mm wide and 50 mm high, according to the dimensioned photo.
Is the handle more practical than a stem?
It gives a better grip: it turns easily, even when placed behind a toilet bowl.
How do I keep the chrome shiny?
A soft cloth, and diluted white vinegar for limescale. No abrasive sponge.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
