Bath Shower Mixer Tap

This mixer sits on the bath itself, in a single hole drilled in the edge or deck. Its body is a chrome block with sharp edges, topped with a flat lever with a red and blue mark, and a rectangular spout that projects over the tub.

It suits baths without a wall-mounted tap, contemporary bathrooms and renovations where you want to keep the supplies beneath the bath. A mesh aerator at the end of the spout gives a steady flow with little splashing. The lever can be operated with one hand, even when wet.

Above the spout, a diamond-point button acts as the diverter. In the default position, water comes out of the spout to fill the bath; when you operate it, it goes to the threaded outlet under the spout, where a handset hose screws on.

This outlet is 1/2″ (15x21): a standard hose fits. Note that the mixer is sold without a shower head or hose, even though the lifestyle photos show one. Temperature is set by hand with the lever: this is not a thermostatic model.

The dimensioned photo shows a total height of 175 mm, a 95 mm spout, 90 mm between the spout outlet and the base, and a base 53 mm wide. Check that your bath edge leaves this room, wall included, so the lever can be raised.

Installation is done from beneath the bath: the mixer is fixed in the hole and connected to the hot and cold supplies. The waste is not included. A competent DIYer can manage it; under a bath with a closed panel, access may call for a plumber.
