Choosing well: Bath mixer tap

A shower system is chosen first by the centre distance of the water supplies (the gap between the two wall connectors, almost always 15 cm in France), then by the overall height, which must keep the shower head above the head of the tallest person in the household.

When choosing between two shower systems, three things set them apart: whether there is a thermostatic mixer, the height adjustment of the handset and the material of the bar.

Fit it without redoing the plumbing

It fits onto the existing supplies without touching the tiles: take off the old mixer, screw in the eccentric connectors, adjust the plumb. Allow an hour the first time.

On a shower installation, maintenance comes down to limescale. A descaled hose and clear nozzles restore the original pressure — this is almost always where the impression of a weakening shower comes from.
