What does “2 holes” mean?

What does “2 holes” mean?

In a shower, “2 holes” means the two water outlets that stick out of the wall: one brings hot water, the other cold. This tap screws onto these two outlets, and it does the mixing before sending the water to the handset.

It is the most common set-up in bathrooms. If your old shower mixer is fixed to the wall by two large nuts at its ends, you are in this case, and this model can replace it without touching the tiles or the hidden plumbing.

Measure before ordering

Measure before ordering

The photographed diagram shows 15 cm between the mixer's two connectors, 19 cm overall width and 9.5 cm depth. Measure the spacing of your wall outlets from centre to centre, at the middle of each pipe.

If your outlets are slightly out of line, eccentric connectors (angled pieces that screw into the wall) take up the gap. The mixer nuts then go onto these eccentrics, and the two rosettes slide against the tiles to hide the thread. Do not tighten more than necessary: it is the seals that make it watertight.

Everyday use

Everyday use

Once in place, the oval handle lifts to open and swivels to set hot and cold. The outlet, under the body, takes a standard shower hose with a 1/2″ (15x21) nut; the handset is not included, which leaves you free to choose your shower head.

The stainless steel body suits wet rooms. A pass with a soft cloth and soapy water keeps its brushed look. Leave the handle in the cold position at the end of a shower, so the next user does not start on very hot water. And if the spacing turns out not to match, you have 30 days to change your mind.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 wall-mounted mixer with two inlets
  • 2 wall flanges

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A stainless steel body: immune to corrosion, it keeps its look despite constant contact with water.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here wall-mounted.

My old mixer has two nuts on the wall: is it compatible?
That's the sign of a 2-hole installation; check the spacing, 15 cm between connectors on this model.
Do I need a plumber?
Not for a replacement on existing supplies: an open-ended spanner, PTFE tape and the water switched off are enough. To create or move supplies, yes.
Is the handset included?
No, only the tap is supplied; the hose screws on in 1/2″ (15x21).
Which finish?
Brushed stainless steel, satin grey, the only shade offered.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
