Stainless Steel Shower System

This column plays with geometry: square-tube bar, square arm that bends at a sharp angle, square hand shower holder, and a very thin rain plate, almost a sheet of metal. The detail views show the ball joint under the plate, which lets it pivot.

This rotation lets you aim the rain: right in the centre of the shower, or slightly offset so as not to spray the glass door. The square hand shower, with grid nozzles, repeats the same design. The shiny chrome of the set goes with dark tiles as well as with a light wall.

Under the bar, the horizontal body carries a round knob at each end. It is a bar-style mixer, surface-mounted beneath the column. Water goes upwards, to the rain head, or to the hand shower via the hose that comes out underneath.

The hand shower holder locks onto the bar with a side wheel: you raise it for an adult, lower it for a child. The hand shower comes off for targeted rinsing, cleaning the screen or the tray, then goes back without tools.

The bar-style body screws onto the two wall water supplies, hot and cold, then the bar is fixed by a holder to be drilled. As a replacement for an existing wall mixer, a handy DIYer can manage; for supplies to be created, call a plumber.

Before ordering, measure between your water supplies and the ceiling: you need room for the bar, the elbow of the arm and the plate above your head. For care, chrome is cleaned with soapy water and wiped with microfibre; the thin plate is rinsed by rubbing its nozzles with a finger.
