Why choose brushed stainless steel

Why choose brushed stainless steel

This mixer is stated to be stainless steel, with a brushed finish: fine grain lines give a satin, light grey look that does not reflect light like chrome. In the in-situ photo, set against a dark wall, it stands out like a piece of raw metal.

This look suits a bathroom in mineral tones, with polished concrete, anthracite tiles or a contemporary walk-in shower. It goes naturally with a braided stainless steel hose, like the one in the photos, and with a hand shower in a metal rather than glossy finish.

A tubular design

A tubular design

The body comes down to two cylindrical arms leading to the escutcheons, and a central block carrying the lever. The lever is a flat oval paddle pointing downwards: lift it to open, pivot it to set hot and cold.

The water outlet is under the central block, threaded, pointing to the floor. The hose therefore drops straight down, without a bend, to its holder or to a shower rail. The diagram gives about 19 cm overall width, 9.5 cm depth and 15 cm between the two connectors.

Caring for a brushed finish

Caring for a brushed finish

Brushed stainless steel is cleaned along the grain, with a soft sponge or microfibre cloth and soapy water. Against limescale marks, a little diluted white vinegar, then a rinse with clean water and a wipe with a dry cloth.

Avoid steel wool and abrasive creams: they cut scratches across the brushing, which then show against the light. The mixer fixes to two wall supplies; the hand shower is not supplied, so allow for a hose with a 1/2″ (15x21) nut. Free UK delivery.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 brushed stainless steel wall-mounted mixer
  • 2 wall flanges

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A stainless steel body: immune to corrosion, it keeps its look despite constant contact with water.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here 2 holes.

+33 7 56 88 18 90 Write to us
Does brushed stainless steel show water marks?
Less visibly than mirror chrome, thanks to its satin look, but a wipe with a cloth after showering is still a good idea.
Can I pair it with a chrome shower handset?
Yes, but the contrast between glossy and satin will show; a stainless steel handset and hose keep the whole set looking uniform.
Where does the water come out?
Through a threaded connector under the central block, pointing downwards.
What are its dimensions?
About 19 cm wide, 9.5 cm deep and 15 cm between the connectors, according to the diagram.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
