Much more than a shower head

The title does not say so, but the photos are unambiguous: this is a concealed bath set. You receive a round rain head on its wall arm, a round single-lever mixer plate with its brass in-wall body, and a bath spout.

The wall shows only three aligned elements: the head at the top, the control in the middle, the spout level with the bath. All the pipework runs behind the tiles.

It is the setup for a fully renovated bathroom, or for a bath whose surround is being redone.

The single lever controls both flow and temperature: it is a mixer, adjusted by hand, with no thermostat.

Water first comes out of the spout to fill the bath. A pull-up diverter on top of the spout, clearly visible in the close-up, sends the flow to the shower head when lifted.

Dimensions are given in inches: approximately 8″ (20 cm) in diameter for the head, 6″ (15 cm) for the arm, 6.3″ (16 cm) for the mixer plate and 5.3″ (13.5 cm) projection for the spout.

The mixer body must be sealed into the wall and connected to hot water, cold water, the outlet to the head and the one to the spout. This step is done with the partition open, before tiling, ideally by a plumber.

Once the tiles are laid, you fit the plate, the lever, the shower arm and the spout: these finishing parts screw on without any special tools.

The rain head is cleaned with a soft sponge and diluted white vinegar; on the black finish, avoid any abrasive product.

No, it's a single-lever mixer: the temperature is set by hand.
Do I need a plumber?
For the concealed body, yes in practice: it is sealed into the wall and connected before tiling.
How do you switch from bath to shower?
