A fixed head, not a handset

A fixed head, not a handset

Unlike most of our shower heads, this one isn't held in the hand: it screws onto the end of a shower arm coming out of the wall, as the lifestyle photos show. It's a fixed shower head, with the water falling from above.

Its diameter is 12 cm, according to the dimensioned photo. The face is flat, ringed by a thick rim, and studded with nubs shaped like little hearts, arranged in rings.

The manufacturer highlights tool-free fitting: you screw the head onto the existing arm by hand.

The turbine and the two spray modes

The turbine and the two spray modes

In the centre, a clear cover shows a gold propeller. The flow of water makes it spin, which gives the central jet some movement. The manufacturer's visuals mention two spray modes, to choose or to combine.

Switching from one to the other is done with a small tab on the edge of the head. A rear view also shows the connecting ball joint, which lets you aim the head forwards, backwards or to the sides.

The supplier states a painted plastic head and use without electricity: the propeller turns on water alone.

Two versions are offered: black and white. In the photos, the light version has a white face ringed with shiny chrome; the black one has a black body and face, with white nubs.

The supplier doesn't state the thread diameter of the ball joint. Before ordering, check that your shower arm ends in a male thread; if in doubt, write to us.

The raised nubs can be cleaned with a finger under running water. Avoid taking off the central cover. If your shower has only a rail and a hose, with no wall arm, this model isn't suitable: look at a handheld shower head instead.

What makes the difference

Calling a plumber to upgrade your shower.

Our answer

A standard 1/2″ thread: it screws on by hand in five minutes, with no need to shut off the water at the meter.

A harsh jet that hits one spot and leaves your back cold.

Our answer

A wide spray area: at the same flow rate, the water covers your shoulders.

Limescale-clogged holes that can no longer be cleared.

Our answer

Soft nubs that clean with a swipe of the finger.

A heavy head that's a chore to hold when rinsing a child.

Our answer

A weight you can hold at arm's length, even with one hand.

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.
