Porcelain or brass: four versions

Porcelain or brass: four versions

The model comes in four versions. The porcelain handles are white, with a blue decoration, and the handset has the same porcelain handle. The brass handles are four-armed crosses, entirely metal.

Each comes with or without a shelf: a brass gallery with a rim, fixed to the tube, for soap and bottles. Choose porcelain for a country-house look, brass for a plainer bathroom.

All four versions share the same spout, the same rain shower head and the same height; only the handle and storage change, as does the price.

Two handles and a bath spout

Two handles and a bath spout

The mixer is controlled by two handles: one for hot water, one for cold. In the centre, a diverter button sends the water either to the spout or to the shower.

The 15 cm spout points down towards the bath to fill it. The supplier states a brass body and a ceramic valve core.

At the top, the round 20 cm rain shower head is carried by a 33 cm arm; the handset sits on a sliding holder, with a hose stated as 150 cm on the dimensioned photo.

Measurements to check before ordering

Measurements to check before ordering

The dimensioned photo gives an adjustable height of 117 to 138 cm. Measure from your water supplies to the ceiling to check the rain shower head fits.

The eccentric connectors accept a gap of 13.5 to 17 cm between the hot and the cold supply: measure this centre distance on the wall, from centre to centre.

If you are replacing a wall-mounted bath mixer, it fits onto the same supplies. The tube is then fixed to the wall with the fixings supplied. Finally, check that the bath sits right under the spout, which projects 15 cm from the wall.

What makes the difference

Leaving shampoo and shower gel on the ledge, where they eventually fall off.

Our answer

An integrated shelf: bottles have their place, at hand height.

A single lever you never quite get right.

Our answer

Two separate handles: hot and cold are set independently, right down to the degree.

Having to unhook the handset to fill a bucket or the bath.

Our answer

A dedicated filler spout at the bottom of the column.

Buying the mixer, the rail and the shower head separately and hoping they match.

Our answer

A complete set: everything arrives matching, in the same finish, with the fixings included.

Breaking into the tiles to conceal the tap.

Our answer

Surface-mounted installation on the two existing outlets: no chasing, nothing to make good.

With the diverter button in the centre of the mixer: it sends the water to the spout or to the shower.
