The courtyard tap par excellence

The courtyard tap par excellence

T-handle on top, angled body, threaded inlet at the back: this is the shape of the draw-off tap you've always seen on courtyard, garage and workshop walls.

The crossbar gives a good grip, even with gloves or earthy hands. It suits simple uses: filling a bucket, rinsing a wheelbarrow, connecting the hose to wash the car.

In the gold finish, the brass stays visible and takes on the warm tint of taps of old; in chrome, the shiny look is crisper and easier to match with a modern facade.

Two spout types

Two spout types

The photos present two set-ups. On one, the spout carries a nut and a ribbed tip: push the garden hose onto it and lock it with a clip. On the other, the spout stays plain, to draw water directly, or ends in a thread for screwing on a connector.

The “Outlet” option offers these two versions, at two prices: “Hose tip” or “No tip”. Without a tip, the spout is smooth in the gold finish and threaded in the chrome finish.

With the tip, the hose stays connected; without a tip, the spout leaves the space underneath free for a bucket or basin.

Presented for outdoors, to be drained in winter

Presented for outdoors, to be drained in winter

This model is presented for staying outside all year round. It does not drain itself, though: before the frosts, close the interior stop valve, open the handle, let the water in the body run out, then remove the hose.

When fitting, a few turns of PTFE tape on the inlet thread, screw into the female supply connector, tighten with a spanner on the body nut. The diameter is not specified: check your outlet, 15x21 or 20x27.

In spring, close the T-handle, reopen the valve and let it run for a few seconds before reconnecting the hose.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 T-handle tap

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here wall-mounted.

Is it really frost-proof?
It is sold for outdoor use all year round, with no automatic draining stated: turn off the water upstream and open it to drain it before winter.
With a hose tip or without?
With the tip, you push the garden hose on and tighten it with a clip. Without it, the spout is smooth (gold) or threaded (chrome).
What is the inlet thread?
Not stated: compare with your supply, 15x21 (1/2″) or 20x27 (3/4″).
Gold or chrome?
Gold for exposed old-fashioned brass, chrome for a bright, clean look.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
