As much a decorative piece as a bathroom fitting

As much a decorative piece as a bathroom fitting

Every photo shows it: here, nothing escapes the gold. The mixer's oblong plate, the slim lever, the handset holder, the ribbed hose and the handset itself all share the same glossy gold. In a toilet with marbled tiles or a coloured wall, it is the touch that catches the eye.

The handset has rounded shapes and a nozzle pierced with small holes; it hangs on the holder to the right of the lever, and its hose forms a soft loop beneath the plate.

The supplier states a brass body.

Water at the right temperature

Water at the right temperature

A mixer takes in hot and cold water and blends them. You set the temperature with the round lever, as you would in a shower, before picking up the handset.

That is the difference from a handset connected to the cistern supply: that one only delivers cold water. Here, intimate hygiene is done with warm water, summer and winter.

Remember to close the lever after each use: the hose then rests without pressure. One routine does it all: open, adjust the temperature, then take the handset from its holder, right beside it.

Plan for concealed fitting

Plan for concealed fitting

The mixer body sits inside the wall; only the plate stays visible. So you need two supplies, hot and cold, at the chosen spot, and an opening in the partition: this is a renovation job, best left to a plumber.

Once fitted, it is easy to live with. Polished gold dislikes harsh products: use a soft cloth and lukewarm soapy water, then dry. Against limescale, a little diluted white vinegar, rinsed off straight away.

Delivery is free in the UK, with dispatch within 24 hours.

What makes the difference

Calling a plumber to run an extra water supply.

Our answer

A connection to the existing toilet supply, with the T-piece included.

A single jet, too strong or too weak, that you can't adjust.

Our answer

A progressive flow: the trigger follows the pressure of your thumb.

A handset left lying on the floor between uses.

Our answer

A wall bracket included, keeping it within reach without leaving it on the floor.

A hose that leaks and has to be replaced along with everything else.

Our answer

A detachable hose: you can swap it yourself when the time comes.

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 concealed mixer with its plate and handset holder
  • 1 gold handset
  • 1 gold hose
