A lever you can padlock

A lever you can padlock

What sets this tap apart is the lug with a hole next to the chrome lever. With the lever down, the two holes line up and a padlock shackle goes through, as one of the photos shows: the water can no longer be turned on without the key.

It is useful on a street-side facade tap, in a shared garden, a block of flats, a campsite or a communal room, or simply to stop children turning the lawn into a bog. The padlock is not listed in the package: bring a small one, with a shackle thin enough to go through the lug.

A removable tip for the quick connector

A removable tip for the quick connector

The outlet ends in a screw-on tip fitted with a black O-ring, which can be seen removed in one of the photos. The quick connector of the garden hose clicks onto it: connect and disconnect in a second, without tools and without wetting your sleeves.

If the tip gets damaged or scratched, or its seal wears, it unscrews and is replaced without touching the tap body or the join with the wall. A wear part that is easy to change means a tap that lasts longer.

Fitting to a 1/2″ supply and winterising

Fitting to a 1/2″ supply and winterising

The brass body screws onto a 1/2″ female supply, in other words 15x21. PTFE tape on the male thread, tighten with a spanner on the body and not on the lever, and the tap is ready to use. The Chrome option refers to the silver lever; the body keeps its brass colour.

Before winter, remove the padlock, shut off the water upstream, open the lever to drain and unhook the hose from the quick connector. An empty tap has little to fear; one left full of water does. Put the padlock back once the lever is open if you want to keep the tap out of use.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 brass garden tap with lockable lever
  • 1 removable outlet end with seal

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here wall-mounted.

Is the padlock included?
One photo shows the tap padlocked, but the padlock is not listed in the parcel contents: bring your own, with a slim shackle.
What hose connector should I use?
A standard garden hose quick connector, which clicks onto the outlet tip.
What supply size?
1/2″, i.e. 15x21 in French sizing.
Is the tap entirely chrome?
No: the Chrome option refers to the silver lever. The body stays gold-coloured brass, as in the photos.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
