On the edge of the bath

On the edge of the bath

This thermostatic mixer does not mount on the wall: it sits on the bath rim, on two rounded legs that hide the hot and cold supplies. It therefore needs a bath with two holes, or a deck that allows it.

The central spout, ending in an aerator, fills the bath with a softened flow. Under the body, an outlet takes the hose of a hand shower: you rinse or shower seated, without changing taps.

Two dials, one red button

Two dials, one red button

The photographed leaflet details the controls. The right-hand dial sets the temperature; a red button acts as a safety: press it to turn the handle towards hotter. The left-hand dial sets the flow. In the centre, a pull-up diverter sends the water to the hand shower.

The thermostatic cartridge holds the chosen temperature: the bath stays at the same warmth from start to finish of filling, and the hand shower does not suddenly turn cold if another tap is opened in the house. Real comfort when bathing a child.

Dimensions and installation

Dimensions and installation

According to the diagram, the two legs are about 150 mm apart, and the mixer is about 275 mm long. Measure the distance between the holes in your bath before ordering: that is the dimension that decides compatibility.

The body is stated to be A59 brass. It is tightened from underneath the bath, which is why access to the panel matters; if it is tiled, a plumber may be needed. No hand shower or hose is included in the contents shown: allow for them separately, with a 1/2″ (15x21) nut. Order shipped within 24 h.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 thermostatic mixer on a channel

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here single-hole.
