Choosing well: Kitchen Tap

Choosing well: Kitchen Tap

A tap is chosen on three dimensions, in this order: the type of hole layout, the spout height and the spacing of the supplies. These three measurements determine what will actually fit in your home; the finish comes afterwards.

Kitchen Tap: what sets two models apart

Kitchen Tap: what sets two models apart

Between two similar models, the cartridge and the body material make the difference. A ceramic cartridge lasts about ten years without dripping, and a brass body does not crack under tightening.

  • Brass body
  • Ceramic cartridge, for drip-free operation
  • Connections to French standards, compatible with common hoses
  • Finish treated against limescale marks
  • Fits onto the existing setup, no plumbing rework

An aerator like LED tap aerator fits by hand and reduces the flow without you feeling it.

Installing and maintaining it

Installing and maintaining it

It fits on the existing setup: supplies off, old tap removed, hoses fed through, tightened from underneath. Descale the aerator every quarter; that is what keeps the flow up.

Well fitted and descaled from time to time, taps and fittings last about ten years. It is the washers and the cartridge that fail first, never the body: both can be replaced without removing the tap.

In the same spirit, Reinforced Shower Hose - White completes the installation.

What makes the difference

A fixed spout that takes up the bowl permanently.

Our answer

A swivel spout that moves out of the way as soon as the sink is needed for something else.

A single lever you never quite get right.

Our answer

Two separate handles: hot and cold are set independently, right down to the degree.

A zamak body with a simple chrome coating: the plating flakes and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A solid body, heavy in the hand — that weight is what sets durable tapware apart from a hollow tube.

A rubber washer that flattens and leaves the tap dripping after two years.

Our answer

A ceramic cartridge: two polished discs that shut off the water by contact, with no soft wearing parts.

Having to tip a saucepan on its side to fill it under the spout.

Our answer

A generous clearance designed for a large container, not just a mug.

How do I look after it?
A soft cloth and soapy water, then a wipe: it is the water drying on the surface that leaves the white marks, not the limescale from the tap.
How is it installed?
It is fitted on three holes, at the standard centre distance.
What is it made of?
Brass body — the reference material in tapware: it does not rust and withstands hot water without deforming.
What's in the box?
The box contains: 1 tap; 2 connecting hoses, hot water and cold water; 1 under-basin fixing system — threaded rod and nut; the necessary seals.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
