Chrome wall-mounted outside tap

This tap is ordered with two outlet options. “Hose tip”: the spout ends in a ribbed nozzle onto which the garden hose is pushed. “Smooth spout”: the spout stays bare, for filling a watering can, bucket or pet bowl without connecting anything. In both cases the handle is flat and rectangular, on a glossy chrome body.

Its geometric design suits a contemporary terrace, aluminium joinery or cladding. The photos also show a curved handle in a brushed finish: that model is not offered here, only the flat handle is available.

On the “Hose tip” version, the spout ends in a multi-ridged ribbed nozzle: the garden hose pushes on and a clip holds it in place. Nothing to screw on at the outlet, no extra connector to buy: connect the hose at the start of the season and it stays there until autumn.

To remove it, loosen the clip and pull while twisting slightly. If the hose resists after months in place, a little hot water on the end softens it. The clip is not supplied with the tap: bring one suited to your hose.

The male inlet is stated as 1/2″, the French 15x21. Wind PTFE tape on the thread, screw into the female connector in the wall and finish with a spanner, holding the body rather than the handle. Stop when the spout points straight at the ground, wall plate flat.

When nights turn cold, close the interior stop valve, open this tap to drain it, remove the hose if there is one and leave the handle open until the fine weather returns. A wipe with a cloth in spring and the chrome shines again.
