A tap worth looking at

A tap worth looking at

On a wall fountain, above a stone trough or against a courtyard wall, a tap is on show. This one is treated as a decorative object: a raised dragon coils around the spout, the two control heads are carved and the wall plate picks up the same motifs.

The shade is an aged gold, dark in the recesses and lighter on the raised parts, which suits stone, wood and old brick. The photos show it just as well above an indoor basin as at the edge of a garden pond.

Free spout at the front, hose at the back

Free spout at the front, hose at the back

The tap has two outlets. At the front, a wide-mouthed spout for filling a watering can or feeding a fountain. At the back, a downward-facing outlet fitted with a connector for a garden hose, hose reel or car-wash hose.

Each outlet has its own control: a wing lever on one, a carved head on the other. The visuals show all four cases: front only, back only, both together or everything closed. The connector nozzle detaches so you can fit a splitter or a timer. Handy for a fountain: the spout runs continuously while the rear outlet stays closed, ready for the evening watering.

Dimensions and installation

Dimensions and installation

It measures roughly 16 cm long and 10 cm high; the front control head is 7 cm. The inlet is shown as "4 points" in the visuals, the equivalent of 1/2″, i.e. 15x21, the most common wall outlet.

PTFE tape and the decorative wall plate are supplied: the plate slides over the thread, and the tape is wound in the direction of tightening. This dragon ships within 24 hours. Before winter, switch the water off indoors and leave both outlets open to drain the body.

What makes the difference

Draining the tap every autumn and still finding it split in spring.

Our answer

A valve that closes upstream of the wall: no water is left standing in the part exposed to frost.

A smooth nozzle that no hose connector will grip.

Our answer

A threaded nozzle to the standard used by off-the-shelf quick connectors.

A thin handwheel that's impossible to turn in wet gloves.

Our answer

A quarter-turn opening, on a wide control.

Paint that blisters in the first summer.

Our answer

A material made for outdoors: sun, rain and frost make no difference.

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 dragon-design double-outlet tap
  • 1 detachable connector nozzle
  • 1 roll of PTFE tape

About this tap

+33 7 56 88 18 90 Write to us
Is the water drinkable?
No: the manufacturer states it is not intended for drinking water. It is for watering, washing and decorative fountains.
Is it frost-resistant?
The visuals quote roughly -20 °C to +100 °C, but water left in the body can freeze: shut off the water upstream, open both outlets and disconnect the hose.
Can I use just one outlet?
Yes: each outlet has its own control, so you can open the spout, the connector or both.
What is the inlet thread?
"4 points" according to the visuals, i.e. 1/2″ (15x21), to screw into a female wall outlet.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
