Two ways to connect the hose

Two ways to connect the hose

The spout carries a ribbed nozzle of about 1.6 cm, held by a knurled nut: slip the hose over it and secure it with a clip. It is the right setup for a hose that stays connected all summer, with no risk of it coming off under pressure.

But the nut unscrews, as one of the photos shows. Underneath is a male threaded outlet of 3/4″, about 2.5 cm: you can screw a quick-connect fitting onto it instead, if you prefer to connect and disconnect the hose without tools. One tap, two systems, and you switch between them in seconds.

Brass beneath a chrome finish

Brass beneath a chrome finish

Unlike most yellow garden taps, this one has a silvery look, brightened by a bright red lever. Under the chrome, the body is brass, as the title and the supplier's data sheet indicate. This look suits zinc gutters, grey joinery or metal garden furniture better.

The lever, long and slightly angled, is pushed with one hand to open or close: no need to grip hard or look for a hold. Its colour makes it visible even when the tap is hidden behind a rose bush or a planter.

A 1/2″ inlet to screw on

A 1/2″ inlet to screw on

At the back, the inlet thread is 1/2″ (15x21) and measures about 2 cm according to the dimensions photo. It screws into a wall plate or a female fitting of the same size. PTFE tape on the thread remains the way to avoid drips at the connection, season after season.

To get through winter without worry: close the indoor valve, open the lever to drain the body, unhook the hose and store it in the garage. While you are at it, unscrew the ribbed nozzle and rinse it: soil and limescale lodge in it over the summer.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 chrome-plated brass garden tap
  • 1 ribbed end with its nut

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here single-hole.

Can a quick connector be fitted?
Yes: unscrew the ribbed nozzle and a 3/4″ male threaded nose appears, onto which a quick-connect nose of the same size screws.
What supply is needed?
A 1/2″ female supply, i.e. 15x21.
Which hose fits the ribbed nozzle?
The nozzle is about 1.6 cm in diameter: choose a hose whose inside diameter is close to that, and secure it with a clamp.
Why chrome if it's brass?
Chrome is the finish applied to the brass body: it gives the silver look and wipes clean with a cloth.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
