Presented for outdoor use all year round

Presented for outdoor use all year round

This model is sold as a frost-proof tap: it is presented for staying in place outside, summer and winter. What really protects it is draining. A tap with no water inside has nothing that can freeze, and that is true for this one as for all the others.

Before the big freeze, close the stop valve in the house, open the lever to let the remaining water out, disconnect the hose from the quick connector and leave the tap open. In spring, close the lever, reopen the supply, reconnect the hose: the season can start again.

Long lever and locking lug

Long lever and locking lug

The black lever, about 80 mm, is open in the centre and folds down along the body. Right next to it, a lug with a hole takes the shackle of a small padlock: handy on a street-facing facade, in a residential complex or on shared land. The padlock is not listed in the package.

The body is marked 1/2 in relief. Stated as brass in the title, it has a dark grey, almost black tint, discreet on dark render, a stone wall or next to a downpipe.

A removable quick-connect nozzle

A removable quick-connect nozzle

The outlet is a tip ready for the quick connector: the garden hose clips on without tools and comes off with one press. The photos show this tip unscrewed, with a black seal and a white perforated part housed in its nut.

If the flow drops, unscrew the tip, rinse the perforated part and put the seal back before screwing it on again. On the wall side, the 1/2″ (15x21) threaded inlet measures about 20 mm in the dimensions photo, and the tap is about 118 mm long in total. Fit it with PTFE tape on the thread and tighten with a spanner.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 outdoor tap
  • 1 quick-connect end with seal

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here wall-mounted.

+33 7 56 88 18 90 Write to us
Is it really frost-resistant?
It is sold for outdoor use all year round, but like any tap it must be drained: turn off the water upstream, open it to purge it and leave it open over winter.
Is the padlock included?
It is not listed in the parcel: the drilled lug can take your own.
What hose should I connect?
Any hose fitted with a standard quick connector, which clips onto the outlet nozzle.
What supply size?
1/2″, i.e. 15x21: the size is moulded on the body.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
