A 3-way tap that embraces black

A 3-way tap that embraces black

Under a dark cistern, next to a black sprayer, a chrome fitting immediately catches the eye. This 3-way tap picks up the same shade: matt black body, black nut, and even the threads are tinted. Only a thin pale ring marks the base of the handle.

It stays compact: once fitted, it is forgotten behind the toilet pan. It is the part that lets you add a bidet sprayer to the existing supply, without running a new pipe through the wall.

Its body is stated as brass, the most common metal in plumbing fittings.

How it connects

How it connects

The photos clearly show the three ways: a hexagonal female nut, which screws onto the supply, and two threaded male ends, one in line, the other on the side. One outlet goes on to the cistern, the other to the sprayer hose.

The stated connection is 1/2″ (15x21), the usual size of a sprayer hose. If your toilet supply is 3/8″ (12x17), as is often the case in France, allow for a reducing bush.

A few turns of PTFE tape on the male ends and a washer in each nut ensure a watertight seal.

Day to day

Day to day

The handle turns to control the water. Connected to the toilet supply, the sprayer receives cold mains water: this is normal, as there is no mixing with hot water here.

One habit saves a lot of trouble: closing the handle after each use. The sprayer hose is then no longer under pressure, and nothing drips at the foot of the toilet overnight.

To keep the matt black intact, a slightly damp microfibre cloth is enough. Chlorine products and scratchy sponges eventually dull it.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 black 3-way tap

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

About this tap

Does the black deteriorate over time?
It keeps its look if you wipe it with a soft cloth; avoid chlorine-based products and abrasive sponges.
What thread size?
The stated connector is 1/2″ (15x21). On a 3/8″ (12x17) supply, a reducer bush makes the adaptation.
Can I fit it myself?
Yes, if you know how to turn off the water and screw on a hose: close the stop valve, fit the tee, reconnect. Otherwise a plumber can do it easily.
Are hoses included?
No, the photos only show the 3-way tap. You keep the hose from your cistern and the one from your shower handset.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
