A tap worth looking at

A tap worth looking at

Here, the tap isn't hidden behind a pot: it shows itself off. The brass takes on a patinated bronze tint, the lever head carries an engraved band of patterns, and the round wall plate is chiselled with a flower. The lever itself curls slightly upwards, like a leaf, echoing the curve of the spout.

It naturally finds its place on a stone wall, near a fountain or pond, on the front of an old house, in a cobbled courtyard or a cottage garden. Where an ordinary tap would jar, this one extends the decor, just like a wall light or a cast-iron letterbox.

Generous dimensions

Generous dimensions

The dimensions photo gives about 18.3 cm from the wall to the end of the spout, 10 cm in height and an 8 cm lever. The wall plate is 5.5 cm in diameter. This long spout clears plenty of space below the outlet: a watering can or bucket fits under without knocking the wall, and splashes stay away from the render.

The inlet is a G1/2 thread, i.e. 15x21, about 1.8 cm long. It screws into a female connector of the same size, with PTFE tape round the thread; the wall plate then sits flat against the wall to hide the join.

An outlet to maintain from time to time

An outlet to maintain from time to time

One of the photos shows the outlet taken apart: a ring, a black seal and a small mesh filter. This filter holds back sand and particles and gives a steady stream; when the flow weakens, unscrew the ring, rinse the filter under water and put everything back in the same order.

This smooth outlet is not designed for a garden hose: it is a draw-off tap, for filling, rinsing or washing hands. Before the frost, shut off the water upstream, open the lever to drain the long spout and leave it open until the fine weather returns.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

Our answer
  • 1 wall tap in antique brass finish, with ring, seal and outlet filter
  • 1 engraved escutcheon

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here wall-mounted.

+33 7 56 88 18 90 Write to us
Can a hose be connected to it?
Its outlet has a filter and a ring, no hose nozzle: it is mainly for filling a watering can, rinsing tools or washing your hands.
What connector is needed on the wall?
A G1/2 female connector, in other words 15x21.
How do I care for the patina?
With clean water and a soft cloth. No descaler or scouring cream, which would brighten the metal in patches.
The flow has dropped: what should I do?
Unscrew the outlet ring, rinse the small mesh filter, check the washer, then reassemble.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
