What this 3-way tap does

What this 3-way tap does

This diverter does not connect to the toilet supply: it fixes to the end of a basin tap spout. The water can then run normally downwards, or leave through the side outlet to a hose.

The photos show it with a handset hose connected to this outlet: a solution when there is no supply near the toilet, but a basin next to it.

As it connects to the basin tap, the sprayer receives the water as set at that tap: cold, or lukewarm if it is a mixer fed with hot and cold water.

Fitted in a few steps

Fitted in a few steps

The installation steps photo details the job: unscrew the aerator at the end of the spout, screw the diverter on in its place, then connect the hose to the side outlet.

The stated connection is M22/M24: the supplied ring and its flat washer let it fit either thread depending on the tap.

Before ordering, simply check that the aerator on your tap unscrews: it is what the diverter replaces. No plumber is needed. The photos show it fitted on several tap models, with short and long spouts.

Day to day

Day to day

Lever one way, the water runs into the basin as usual; lever flipped, it goes into the hose.

The underside of the diverter keeps its own aerator mesh, visible in the hand-held photo: the basin jet stays soft.

For upkeep, a soft cloth on the chrome, and a soak in white vinegar for the mesh if limescale clogs it. Put the lever back to the basin side after each use of the sprayer. It comes off as easily as it goes on, to get back to the original tap: keep the aerator aside.
