Temperature set once and for all

Temperature set once and for all

Filling a bath with a standard mixer means constantly adjusting the lever. Here, the right-hand dial carries a graduated scale: you pick your temperature, and the thermostatic cartridge holds the mix even if pressure varies elsewhere in the house.

The red button on this dial acts as a safety stop, a point the supplier highlights for families with children. The second dial, on the left, controls the opening. You get the same water from the first to the last litre of the bath, with no need to add hot water along the way.

A spout for the bath, an outlet for the shower

A spout for the bath, an outlet for the shower

Under the body, a downward spout fills the bath. On this spout, a chrome pull-ring acts as the diverter: operate it to send the water to the G1/2 connection beneath, where a handset hose screws on. One photo shows the hose in place and water running from the spout.

The supplier states that the mixer is sold without a shower head or hose: you can keep your current handset or choose a new one, with a standard 1/2″ (15x21) nut. The bath waste is not included either.

Fitting on wall supplies

Fitting on wall supplies

This thermostatic mixer is fixed to the wall above the bath, on two water supplies. The supplier states an accepted centre distance of 130 to 170 mm; the diagram shows 150 mm ± 15 mm, for a length of 280 mm.

Watch the connection direction: on a thermostatic mixer, hot and cold water each have their own side. If your supplies are reversed, tell the plumber before installation, as the cartridge would not regulate properly. The body is brass according to the supplier, who guarantees it for 2 years; keep your invoice with the instructions.
