A flat, smooth front

A flat, smooth front

This shower mixer stands out for its flat, rectangular body in gloss chrome: the front face forms a smooth surface, without relief, that you wipe in a single pass of the cloth. The lever continues this design: a wide flat paddle, rounded at the corners, that drops down at the front of the body.

You lift it to open, turn it to set the mix; a small red and blue marker on the spindle shows the hot side and the cold side. The paddle can also be operated with the back of the hand or the elbow, handy when your hands are full of shampoo.

971 grams on the scale

971 grams on the scale

One of the supplier's photos shows the mixer on a kitchen scale, which reads 971 g. That is the weight of the mixer alone, and it gives an idea of the amount of metal in the body, stated to be brass.

The same series of photos shows the outlet in close-up: a threaded fitting with a hexagon socket inside, which takes the nut of the shower hose. The thread is 1/2″ (15x21), the standard for shower hoses: any shower handset on the market fits it, round or square.

Fixing onto two inlets

Fixing onto two inlets

The mixer is photographed with two eccentric connectors and a chrome rosette: the eccentrics screw into the wall water outlets and are oriented to line up under the mixer nuts, the rosettes dress the start of the pipes against the tiles.

For a replacement, allow for an open-ended spanner and PTFE tape: water off, old tap removed, eccentrics set, mixer tightened onto its seals. If the inlets need to be moved or created, call a plumber. The handset is not supplied: choose it separately, to your taste. Your order ships within 24 h.

What makes the difference

Receiving just the one part, and having to order the rest elsewhere.

A zamak body with a simple chrome plating: the finish flakes off and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A brass body, the benchmark material for taps: it does not rust and withstands hot water without warping.

Finding out at installation that the drilling does not match.

Our answer

The installation type is stated on the product page before you buy, here wall-mounted.
