A spare part for a pull-out tap

A spare part for a pull-out tap

Despite being filed among the shower heads, this part does not fit a shower: it is the head of a pull-out spray tap, the kind you pull out over the sink to rinse vegetables or fill a pan. The photos show it on a kitchen mixer and on a basin tap.

It is used when the original head leaks, broke after falling into the sink or no longer changes spray. The rest of the tap, hose included, is kept: only the spray handle is replaced, which saves changing the whole mixer.

Straight jet or rain, at the touch of a button

Straight jet or rain, at the touch of a button

The top carries a black button. One press switches from a focused jet, for filling a container without splashing, to a wide rain that covers a frying pan or a chopping board. Another press brings back the straight jet.

The outlet face is surrounded by small blue nozzles, with a mesh aerator in the centre. The body is chrome-plated ABS according to the seller: it stays light in the hand and is easy to grip, even with wet fingers.

The dimensioned photos give 170 mm in length and 60 mm for the head.

The head is fitted by push-fit onto the hose, with a black threaded end that the photo shows as 2 cm. Pull-out spray fittings are not all identical: compare your old head with this dimensioned photo, length and end fitting, before ordering.

Fitting needs no plumber: you unscrew the old head from the end of the hose, screw the new one on by hand, then turn on the water to check that not a drop appears. For limescale, rub the nozzles with a soft sponge and a little white vinegar.

What makes the difference

A zamak body with a simple chrome coating: the plating flakes and the metal pits underneath.

Our answer

A solid body, heavy in the hand — that weight is what sets durable tapware apart from a hollow tube.

A rubber washer that flattens and leaves the tap dripping after two years.

Our answer

A ceramic cartridge: two polished discs that shut off the water by contact, with no soft wearing parts.

Having to tip a saucepan on its side to fill it under the spout.

Our answer

A generous clearance designed for a large container, not just a mug.

A harsh jet that splashes the whole sink and wastes water.

Our answer

An aerator that mixes air into the stream: a full jet with lower consumption.

A tap that takes two hands to operate when your fingers are covered in flour.

Our answer

A single lever: flow and temperature in one movement, even with the back of your hand if need be.

Can it be fitted to a shower?

No, only the head is sold: your pull-out hose stays in place.
Are taps easy to install yourself?

Most of our models are designed to be easy to fit yourself, with clear instructions and standard tools. For some of the more complex models, it may be advisable to call in a professional.

What should I do if my tap starts to leak?

If your tap starts to leak, first check whether the problem comes from the seals or the cartridge. These parts can wear over time and are easy to replace. If the problem persists, contact our customer service team for help or to claim under the guarantee, if applicable.
