Fold-down spout, swivel spout, folding body: how does it work?
Three mechanisms hide behind the word fold-down:
- The fold-down spout: the body stays fixed on the sink, only the spout lies down when the window pushes it, then lifts back up by hand. It is the simplest fold-down kitchen tap.
- The folding body: the whole tap tilts through 90°, like the Fold-Down Kitchen Tap, Folds 90 Degrees (€88.90), whose sheet also states a 360° swivel spout.
- The wall-mounted articulated arm: one or two elbows let you unfold the spout over the sink or a pan, then store it against the wall, like the double-articulation 27 cm model.
In all three cases, the point to check is the same: the folded-down spout must pass under the opening sash of the window: measure the available height in cm between the worktop and the bottom of the open casement, and compare it with the height of the tap when folded down given on the sheet. Fold-down tap: for which sink?

Fold-down tap with pull-out spray
The pull-out spray comes out of the spout to rinse vegetables, the bottom of the sink or a large dish. On a fold-down tap, it stores in the spout before you lay it down under the window. A folding kitchen tap is chosen first on how you use it: the space under the window, the number of holes in the sink and the need for a spray, then on the finish. Our advice: for a sink under a window, a fold-down sink model is usually enough; a wall-mounted fold-down tap makes sense when the water already comes out of the wall or when you want to fill a pan on the hob. For the space around the sink, keep at least the width of a dish between the spout and the glass, and check that the water falls in the centre of the bowl.
